GoCritic! Animafest 2024

Next in the series of workshops organised in partnership with the Animation Festival Network is the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, taking place in Croatia from 3 to 8 June, 2024. Six promising international film journalists and critics work with tutor Vladan Petković on reviews, interviews, industry stories and essays focussed on the animation scene. All articles are published on Cineuropa and Zippy Frames.

Réka Erőss

Réka Erőss

Réka Erőss is a Hungarian freelance film critic and aspiring philosophy scholar based in Romania. She publishes film-related reviews, essays and translations mostly for Filmtett and ujszem.org. She actively engages in workshops related to film criticism, including the Young Critics Workshop at the Verzio International Human Rights Festival in Budapest. During her university studies, she was an active member and organiser of a student film club. She holds a Master's degree in Critical Theories and is currently preparing to apply for a PhD in Philosophy at Babeș-Bolyai University.

Ani Kiladze

Ani Kiladze

Ani Kiladze is a film critic, writer and content creator based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She is the co-founder of Es Aris Kino, an online platform focussed on modern cinema and the film industry. Ani also serves as a programmer and social media manager for the Kutaisi International Short Film Festival. Her English writings can be found on Eye For Film and Klassiki. Additionally, she is a member of FIPRESCI through the Georgian Film Critics and Scholars Association. Ani's critical focus includes female presence, sexual identity, suburbs and marginalised communities in film. Her MA thesis, "Sexual Relations in Modern Georgian Film", explores these themes in depth.

Eliana Resnick

Eliana Resnick

Based in Paris, Eliana Resnick has a background in art history and art logistics. She has spent the past few years exploring a variety of films to discover different modes of expression and styles, both inside and outside the festival circuit. Most recently, she was on the International People’s Jury for the 17th edition of the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival in Warsaw, Poland. Currently, she co-hosts Cannesversations, a podcast that deep dives into films that have been programmed at some point during the history of the Cannes Film Festival. The podcast also covers the current festival edition from the Croisette. In addition to podcasting, Eliana is working on co-developing a publication called Purple Hour, which will focus on cinema with a canted and queer lens.

Erika Roša

Erika Roša

Erika Roša is a freelance language teacher, translator and film critic based in Zagreb, Croatia. She holds an MA in American and Italian Literature and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Zagreb. She writes film reviews for the radio show Filmoskop, which airs on Croatian Radio, and for the film magazine Croatian Cinema Chronicle. In 2023, she served on the Critics Jury at the 16th Kinoklub Gledalište Film Festival in Zagreb and at the 13th edition of Porečdox in Poreč. She also participated in the Talents Press workshops at the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival.

Thanut Rujitanont

Thanut Rujitanont

Thanut Rujitanont is a Thai animation artist. He holds a RE:ANIMA European Joint Master’s degree in Animation and is currently a PhD candidate at Griffith Film School, Australia. He does animation as a thinking process and a daily chore, in the forms of text and moving images, to contemplate his fields of interest. He founded his studio Graphy Animation in 2021, which has actively expanded animation culture in Thailand and abroad.

Jan Tracz

Jan Tracz

Jan Tracz is a film journalist, festival correspondent and scholar based in London. His bylines include Collider, The Upcoming, Talking Shorts, WhyNow, Eye For Film, FIPRESCI and various outlets in Poland (Vogue Poland, Filmweb, Interia Film and many more). He has also interviewed famous talents such as Adam Sandler, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Paul Dano, Lasse Hallström and Johan Renck. Apart from freelancing, Jan is pursuing a PhD in Film Studies at King's College London. His dissertation is on screen couples and on-screen chemistry in classical Hollywood.
